Deputy Principal

Hamilton West School is seeking an experienced leader to join our collaborative and supportive team. This role is an exciting opportunity to work with the executive team to shape the future of our school and ensure our tamariki continue to thrive. The terms and conditions, including base salary, are set by the relevant collective agreement. 6 Management units.

The successful applicant will:

  • Give effect to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

  • Assist in the overall leadership and management of our school

  • Directly lead Phase 2 classes (Years 4, 5 and 6)

  • Have proven curriculum knowledge and experience, especially in literacy and mathematics, to collaboratively lead curriculum development and the implementation of Te Mātaiaho 

  • Foster positive relationships with all tamariki, staff, whānau, and the local community

  • Deputise in the absence of the principal, along with the other DP’s

  • Be approachable, nurturing, and an excellent communicator

  • Understand assessment, data, and effective pedagogy

  • Show flexibility, resilience, and humour in a large school environment
